  • Job Summary

    Reporting to the Medical Director and/or Director of Holistic Health, the MSW is a part-time contracted position with flexible hours. The MSW is involved in the provision of Social Work services to patients of Park Integrative Health (PIH). This includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, intervention, and treatment; consultation; crisis intervention; education; resource counselling; supportive counselling; initiating appropriate referrals; and use a social work lens to connect people to resources as appropriate. The MSW will implement interventions and treatment in alignment with relevant Legislative Acts that impact patient care, including but not limited to: Health Information Act; Mental Health Act; Protection for Persons in Care Act; Personal Directives Act; Alberta Guardianship Trusteeship Act; Child Protective Services; etc. PIH is a private health and wellness clinic that specializes in providing comprehensive, collaborative healthcare to individuals in the greater Strathcona County and Edmonton area.

    Responsibilities
    • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, including risk screening
    • Perform client interventions, including but not limited to: consultation; crisis intervention; risk management; case management; provision of education; resource counselling; supportive counselling; client advocacy; initiate appropriate referrals; use a social work lens to connect people to resources as appropriate; and complete after-care plans, including outcome-based evaluation measures
    • Assist clients to resolve human relationship issues and enhance mental, emotional, and social well-being through an empathetic, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship recognizing the importance of person-in-environment (PIE)
    • Maintain excellent documentation, statistics, and reports in accordance with applicable legislation and employment policies
    • Assist with other clinic activities as required
    Qualifications
    • Active registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers is required
    • Bachelors of Social Work, Masters of Social Work and the ability to do clinical work are required
    • Minimum 3 years post-degree experience is considered an asset
    • Knowledge of and ability to implement and maintain Social Work practice per the CASW Code of Ethics and ACSW Standards of Practice is required
    • Minimum Heart & Stroke Basic Life Saving Level C is required. First Aid considered an asset
    • Experience with specific counselling therapies (motivational interviewing, CBT, EMDR, Hakomi, etc.)
    • Strong professionalism, initiative, ethical and clinical judgement, decision-making, and ability to prioritize is required
    • Ability to build rapport and establish strong therapeutic relationships with a wide variety of clients is required
    • Provision of culturally competent and sensitive services is required
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required
    • Second language considered an asset
    • Excellent documentation and computer skills are required
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and case management skills are required
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team and participate in both team and patient conferences is required
    • Previous experience in Health Care considered an asset
    • Knowledge of resources and services across the life span considered an asset
    • Authorization to perform Psychosocial Interventions considered an asset
