Our Holistic Team

The holistic team at Park Integrative Health cares deeply about ensuring that each client receives the best treatment they most need. Our holistic practitioners work with each client, their medical doctors, and other PIH team members to ensure an integrative approach to each individuals journey to wellness.

ACUPUNCTURE

Nicole Broadhurst, R.AC., TCMD

Nicole is a Registered Acupuncturist and TCMD who graduated from the Doctor of Chinese Medicine program at ACATCM in Calgary, AB. She specializes in Fertility – both natural conception and assisted reproductive treatments (IVF/IUI), Sexual Health and Psychological Disorders. She enjoys working with individuals and couples wanting to grow their family, restore their sexual vitality and achieve a balanced mental state.

Heather Gazley, R.AC.

Heather is the Client Care Coordinator and the Director of Business Integration at Park Integrative Health, and a Registered Acupuncturist. In a previous life she was an educator and holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. She says, “I believe that every individual has the capacity to be well – it is my role to support their journey as they move toward a state of remembered wellness.”

Céline Sandberg, R.AC.

Céline is a registered acupuncturist whose goal is to empower people on their journey to better health. She has a special interest in fertility, perinatal care, as well as hormonal health, mental-emotional health, and trauma. Céline appreciates that healing should be holistic as well as individualized, and so each treatment is uniquely designed for each patient. She is an advocate for patients receiving the best health care options available through the blending of East and West medicines.

Richard Shimada, R.AC.

Richard is familiar with both Western and Traditional Chinese (and Japanese Minimalist) Medicine. Practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine is his natural calling. Certified as Registered Acupuncturist, Richard also specializes in Peripheral Nerves Disorders, Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSK), Pain Management, Mental health, Gastrointestinal disorders, as well as Cosmetic Acupuncture. Cosmetic Acupuncture is very well known across Asia, and emerging in North America as the go to holistic approach to rejuvenating the facial dermis – which is very effective against wrinkles with little to no side affects.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Rana Abdelkarim, RMT, Reiki Practitioner

Rana is a former Registered Nurse turned Registered Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner. Having worked within both Western and Eastern medicine traditions, Rana believes patient care should be both holistic and fully customized to one’s needs. She can’t wait to show you how being in a better relationship with your body, mind, and spirit, is your most powerful tool for improved health and wellbeing.
Rana is passionate about mental health, digestive health and energy work. When she is not at the clinic, she can be found facilitating virtual Subconscious Imprinting sessions. Rana’s treatments include: therapeutic massage, myofascial cupping, biomagnetic cupping, abdominal cupping, facial cupping, hydrotherapy, joint mobilization, manual lymphatic drainage, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, intraoral massage, tuning forks, essential oils, crystal therapy, and Reiki.

Deeyana Baydala, RMT, R.AC. diploma

Deeyana graduated from the Massage Therapy Program at MacEwan University in 2016, and from MacEwan’s Acupuncture Program in June 2019. Currently Deeyana is working toward her exams taking place this year to become a Registered Acupuncturist and is excited to incorporate her knowledge of massage therapy, acupuncture, and Chinese Medicine into her treatments. Within her treatments, Deeyana includes a variety of modalities from Trigger Point Therapy, Myofasical Release Techniques, Swedish Massage Techniques, PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation), and Deep Tissue Techniques to provide a unique patient-oriented treatment.

 

Terri Cuthill, RMT

Terri Cuthill began her massage career with Alberta College of Massage Therapy, graduating in 2009. She started working at a spa in Sherwood Park in 2011 and moved to Park Integrative Health in 2017. To add to her skills, Terri has taken an introductory craniosacral workshop, a jade stone workshop and has her standard First Aid and level C CPR. In 2018, Terri returned to school at Manual Osteopathic College of Canada, to add to her skills; completing the course in Sept 2019. Terri is an active member of the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapist Association. She has enjoyed giving back to the industry by teaching with the school since 2010 as a Teaching Assistant and an Instructor in 2015. Terri enjoys helping others, whether it’s helping a client’s body find its way to health or a student learn the body.

 

Sam Frizzell, RMT

Sam is an April 2018 graduate of the MaKami College 3000-hour program. She is very passionate about massage therapy and takes a detailed approach with her practice to ensure each client receives a well rounded and personalized treatment. Sam focuses on the rehabilitation, maintenance, relaxation, and education of her clients, thus ensuring each client can find relief in the clinic as well as at home. Her specialties include Swedish Relaxation Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Cupping, Trigger Point Therapy, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation. Sam’s bright and cheery demeanour uplifts both staff and clients at Park Integrative Health.

Alyssa Gartner, MOT, RMT

Alyssa graduated with her Massage Therapy diploma in 2014, and her Manual Osteopathic Therapy Diploma in March 2020. She is also a Certified Sport First Responder. Her areas of specialization include: deep tissue/therapeutic massage, trigger point, active release, muscle energy techniques, pregnancy massage, cupping, advanced myofascial release, sports massage, TMJ therapy, osteoarticular corrections, craniosacral techniques, and visceral manipulation. When she is not working at the clinic, she enjoys gaining valuable on-field experience working as a trainer with local football and hockey teams. Alyssa is passionate about forming effective treatment plans to aid her diverse clientele to a full recovery. She is always looking for an opportunity to learn something new and strives to ensure that each patient meets their individual goals.

Robert Johnston, RMT

Robert is a graduate of the Alberta College of Massage Therapy. Robert’s passion for health and wellness started in martial arts and fitness training, and inspired him to pursue a career where he can assist and guide people through the healing process. Robert enjoys creating an open and welcoming environment where he uses deep tissue and Swedish techniques, combined with a personalized approach to help create a treatment plan that will mesh comfortably into your lifestyle.

NUTRITION COUNSELLING

Laura Harris, RD

As a Registered Dietitian, Laura translates scientific research into practical recommendations and strategies with a client-centered approach. She is dedicated to her clients and passionate in supporting them to reach their nutrition goals. Laura takes a non-diet approach to nutrition counselling. Instead, she focuses on healing and/or preserving the relationship with food, honouring hunger and respecting fullness. She recognizes that there is more to health than the number on the scale and encourages clients to be kind to themselves and respect their bodies.

Ardelle Viau, CHNC

After spending over eight years working within the weight loss industry and receiving her designation in Certified Holistic Nutrition, Ardelle launched her own nutrition consulting business that uses a holistic approach to create a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. She coaches her clients through step by step individualized programs, educating them on whole food and toxic-free living recommendations, while helping them understand the mind-body connection. Her programs are designed to meet you where you are and by simplifying the complex world of nutrition. She strives to ensure you meet your goals at a pace you are comfortable with so you can start feeling your absolute best.

PSYCHOLOGY

Shawna Benoit, R.PSYCH

Shawna Benoit is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta. Shawna has 14 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in the area of psychological health and wellness. Her passion is working with children and their families to better understand strengths and challenges that play into the search for wellness. Shawna supports individuals, children and families in the areas of anxiety, depression, adjustment, loss/change, social skills, emotional development, regulation, behaviour and parenting. She has extensive knowledge of social-emotional and behavioural intervention, training in play therapy and a love for skills training programs for parents and their children. Shawna’s clinical training is primarily based in cognitive behavioural therapy, however, she draws from a number of approaches including Solution-Focused Therapy, Play Therapy and Trauma-Informed Practice. Shawna also specializes in psychoeducational assessment of children with learning challenges, intellectual delays, emotional difficulties, behavioural difficulties and developmental delays.

Rebecca Leppard, R.PSYCH 

(on maternity leave until early 2021)

Rebecca Leppard is a Registered Psychologist who strives to provide a warm, encouraging and safe environment to discuss whatever issues concern you. She has experience working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, life stressors, relationship concerns, sexuality, chronic pain, gender identity issues and anger. Her person centered and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approach means that she will encourage discussions about your thought processes, feelings and coping skills. In addition, she also incorporates mindfulness and self compassion into the work she does with clients. Since graduating from the University of Alberta with a Masters in Counselling Psychology, Rebecca enjoys working with her clients to help them achieve a more fulfilling life. She is a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA).

Kelley Mitchell, M.ED., R.PSYCH., CHT

(on maternity leave until early 2021)

Kelley is a Registered Psychologist and Certified Hakomi Therapist (CHT) who loves helping people discover their personal power. Her focus is on supporting individuals in growing self-acceptance, compassion, and confidence, which ultimately leads to personal empowerment. Through a holistic psychology approach, she supports clients in experimenting with creating the life they desire, one choice at a time. Kelley integrates aspects of evidence-based cognitive approaches with body-centered, experiential, mindfulness-based approaches (i.e. Hakomi) to support you in cultivating self-awareness and increasing your personal empowerment. The healing power of this approach is guided by your awareness. Understanding the difference between the expanded self and self-limiting responses allows you freedom of choice.

Ally Oladele, R.PSYCH 

Ally is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, is a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta, and has a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University. Ally works from a collaborative approach, drawing on person-centered, existential, and Gestalt therapies, while implementing strategies from other therapies to support clients in meeting their goals. She enjoys working with all ages and sorts of clients; however, she is particularly focused on addressing issues with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and life transitions. Ally focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, while creating a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. Ally truly believes in the potential that each person has to overcome adversity, to heal, and to see change.

Kerri Severin, M.C., R.Psyc 

A registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, Kerri is a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, empathetic, genuine, and warm counsellor who believes in cultivating a strong working alliance with her clients. Kerri uses a person-centered, solution-focused, CBT, and CPT approach to counsel her clients. She worked at the Pride Centre of Edmonton during her practicum, and is a LGBTQ+ ally. Kerri has experience working with all ages, with a focus on clients 13 years and older working through depression, anxiety, stress, gender identity, sexuality, grief, PTSD, addictions, self-esteem, and life transitions. She is currently training in EMDR and will be able to practice trauma reprocessing after October 2020. Kerri believes that counselling can offer a safe place for clients to increase hope, identify personal strengths, and grow awareness in order to function better in life.
